After obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Creighton University, Brandi continued her schooling in becoming a certified Massage Therapist and later Nail Technician. Combining her passion for therapeutic healing and her love for exercise, Brandi sought out her career in the fitness world. During the past 5 years, Brandi has been a Pilates instructor, lead numerous extreme cardio group fitness classes and is now working one on one with clients as a Personal Trainer. She believes exercise and proper fitness contain all the successful ingredients for a healthy lifestyle that hand in hand awards us with a beautiful body. Her main goal as a trainer is to help you along the way and provide you with positive support, encouragement, and the proper workouts to help you attain your goal. Melanie loves fitness and loves to work with people. So making people healthier is a win win for her. She is a mother of 5 and is from Woodbine Iowa and has been involved in fitness and athletics her whole life. While perusing her college degree in communications and business she participated in basketball earning an all –American status. One of Melanie’s strengths is listening to you and making your goals come true. She is a born motivator, and enjoys seeing your success. Melanie specializes in weight loss, body sculpting and cardio training. She also trained and completed a full Marathon, Women’s triathlon, several ½ marathons and road races. Melanie is a Certified in Personal Training and Group X- she would be happy to help with any question.
Janell Cheek is an Exercise Physiologist with her Undergraduate Degree from Wayne State College in Exercise Science and Wellness. She received her Master’s Degree from Georgia State University in Exercise Physiology and focus in Nutrition. Janell holds certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine as HFI, also AFAA Group Exercise, and in Sports Nutrition from DSW Fitness. For several years, Janell worked in St. Louis at a federal wellness center. While getting her Master’s in Atlanta, Georgia, she worked in a hospital wellness center. In 1997, Janell moved to Washington DC, where she was the Director over four fitness facilities for the Military. Her family also lived in Missouri for nearly ten years before moving back home to raise her children in Harlan. Janell is the mother of four school-aged children (Joshua, 13; Jonathan, 11; Jocelyn 9; and Jonas, 4). She obtained a degree in Early Childhood and Human Development when the older children were still young. She uses this when developing programs at the PFWC to encourage wellness in young children. Janell is the Communications Director at Nishnabotna Valley REC full time. She and her four children live on acreage just west of Harlan, where they raise 4-H livestock. In her free time, Janell enjoys coaching basketball, keeping her children in church activities, and likes watching her kids participate in sports here in Harlan.
My name is Mike Wohlhutter and I am a personal trainer for Petersen Family Wellness Center. I am a cycling enthusiast whether it be indoors or of course outdoor road cycling. Some of my specialties are High Intensity Interval Training for fat loss and lean muscle mass growth and classic weight training. I have been training since 2009 as well as playing in a few bands in the metro area. Health, fitness, music and family are my passions in life and I put all I can into all of these thing. I believe I can be a great motivator to help you along your path of well-being whether you are a beginner just looking for some direction or you are experienced and trying to take it to the next level.
Being active is a life long experience of learning & improving. I enjoy pushing myself & my clients to new heights and trying new exercises. Having a good time with whomever I’m training is a top priority. Working out will feel like an adventure instead of a chore.
