iVantage Health Analytics released its latest rankings of the top performing Critical Access Hospitals as determined by the company’s Hospital Strength Index.  The Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals are the nation’s best rural safety-net institutions.  The Hospital Strength Index is a comprehensive scorecard that evaluates:  market conditions, clinical and operational performance, and financial and qualitative outcomes.

The Top 100 were chosen based on objective measurements of relative performance among peers across 56 different performance metrics.  The Hospital Strength Index is a valuable tool which offers hospital executives, trustees, and boards a measurable performance indicators and metrics.

The 56 measures identify hospitals which are best prepared for continued success.  Market Strength, Value Based Strength, and Financial Strength are utilized as measurements for benchmarking and goal setting.  Market strength includes competitive strength, intensity, and size.  Value Based strength includes quality, outcomes, patient perspective, and cost/charge indicators.  Financial strength measures income statement and balance sheet ratios that best predict long-term sustainability.
